Summer Camp, Rodney Scout Camp
A couple days ago I went to Summer camp at Camp Rodney for a boy scout trip. And we had a lot of fun and learned a lot of new things.
The first three mornings me and a couple other people would get up at 6:00 in the morning and get ready to go on a swim in a pool which is called polar swim. Next thing we would do every morning was have breakfast, which was great, and we would after that would work on our swimming merit badge. After that we would go to a Brownsea program which was for people who have never been to Rodney before. Our to leaders there were Sworts and macaroni (nicknames) We had a lot of fun with them for those 6 days.
After all of that we would head on to lunch and after that we would head back to camp usualy so we can tell the plans. After that(besides monday and friday) We would work on the nature merit badge. We would learn what animals and plants do to help each other in nature. We also looked around for different rocks and the counselor would tell us what they were and we also learned a bit on reptiles and amphibians and how they help nature and how the are related and not related and how they reproduce.
On the fourth part we did different things on different days. We had archery shooting, rifle shooting, canoeing, and swimming.
One thing I notice with some scouts is they seem to not pay attention to the scout oath:
On my honor I will do my best, to do my duty, to God and my country, and to obey the scout law, to help othes at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and moraly straight.
It seems the same with the law:
A Scout Is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, And Reverent.
Everybody does have problems including me, but we should do our best to work over them. In scouts and in life we should do the law. That is what we need to work on and pray about.
